A REALLY HOT GUY, GUNS AND TOILET PAPER

When you have
a really hot guy, guns and toilet paper
you have a really fun wedding shower!
Hostess, Hannah Jones Brown, and
her mom, Annette Jones, gifted
Brat this amazing *grace* cross.

During all of the fun, I forgot to take
a photo of the gorgeous table
that Hannah and Annette laid out.
The red velvet cake was the
crowning glory!
"Did I forget to mention that you would be
the only guy here today, Blake??"
(That's so unlike me)

...This is Blake, my son, and
Brat's best friend, so it only made sense
for him to come.
And, I knew the ladies (and young ladies)
would enjoy having him there.
He really likes my best friend, Annette.
In fact, I think this might be his new fb profile pic.
Phyllis Fischer, Betty Harris and Kim Bolin
all delighted us with their presence
and delighted Brat with their presents.
(Oh, hush)
Jeanette Ricks and Rudy Shepherd...
I can only assume that Taylor has
walked into the room.
Yep! I was right!
Here's Brat's sister, Taylor, with her
most precious little boy, Skilyr.
"Blake. Stop.
I KNOW I told you there would
be toilet paper involved."
Groups of 3 with one of the group
being the BRIDE.
In this group, that'd be Blake.
(...the reason I wanted him to come...)
The wedding dress is made of,
you guessed it, *shhhhh* toilet paper.
Does anyone else think he's enjoying this just
a little bit too much?? Bwahahahaha!
(He was such a good sport!)
The stand out part of Amanda's
wedding gown was the sleeves.
Gorgeous.
However, I did hear some whispers
about a mummy. Just sayin'.
Some women were just born to be a bride.
Ginger's gown had a heavenly look.
So much so, that she reminded us of Mary.
You know, Jesus' Mary.
Remember, his mom??
Stay with me here.
Every bride needs bridesmaids!
And, Ginger's bridesmaids are
stinkin' beautiful!!
A sneak peek for all of my blog readers
of Brat's wedding dress.
Okay, not the real dress,
but it is the back up dress in case
something happens.
Good thinkin', huh.
Brittany is trying to look like one of those
professional models in the bridal zines.
You know, when they push their
shoulders forward? It's not a good look
on anyone.
I'll talk to her.
I'm as proud as a mom to tell you that
Abe, age 5, and my model,
came in as runner up.
His mom was my co-designer
and responsible for the shoes.
I'm thinkin' it was either the shoes
or the eyebrows (look closely)
that pushed him over the top.
Good lookin' bride, Abe!!
I think another element of Abe's bridal attire
that pushed him up to 2nd place was
his floor length veil.
(That was my idea. Is that bragging?)
I know you've been waiting for this moment
and may have even scrolled forward,
to see the Bride of the Shower.
Taylor Stone won the title.
She's a vision, isn't she?
I would be remiss if I didn't introduce you
to Taylor's designer, Elyce.
Where would a bride be without her designer??
I'm sure it's the camera man's fault
and Brittany isn't really sneaking in a nap.
Dig deeper!! There has to be wine in here!
No wine, but some fabulous placemats!
A darling Lucille Johnson creation,
an apron perfect for backyard bar-b-ques.
 The picture tells the story.
I'm a firm believer that the best gifts come
in the smallest packages.
That would be because this smallest of gifts
is from mwah.
Oh, real nice.
Brat couldn't read my handwriting
so Hannah had to help her.
It was offensive in so many ways.
(I'm kidding, ya'll:)
Abe kept telling me that THEY brought the BEST GIFT.
I think Brittany would agree!

And, to end the party,
some of the little faces that were there!
(There's a couple of big faces, too:)
And, last but not least..........I promised you some guns!!

The shower was a scream
with really good sports,
fun people,
cute kids,
great cake,
fabulous presents,
high fashion,
a really hot guy,
guns
and toilet paper!!

Thanks, y'all, for taking the time
to read my blog.
PLEASE leave a comment at the
bottom of the blog so I can get
an idea of how many are reading -
a lot of you send me emails or
comment on facebook, and that's
great! I'd just like an idea of
how many people I'm reaching.

I love you!!

IS IT ANY WONDER THAT I COUNT Y'ALL AS FRIENDS??

Is it any wonder that I count y'all as friends?
Is it any wonder that some of my closest friends are women that I've never met face to face?
Is it any wonder that I count several of my blog friends as "BFF's"?
No, it's no wonder.

A lot of you have been with me for several years as I've blogged about everything from my art, the things that I think are funny, and my medical adventures *though I admit that I haven't been as open with those as I have with other things* because. . . . .
I have always felt that if I was too open with y'all that I would be setting myself up for your distain, that you may feel like my blog isn't the place for me to tell the world (yeah, the whole world reads my blog - I have a lot of lurkers) about my boo-boo's;  you all have your own problems, you don't want to read about mine.

And, worst of all, I was a bit concerned that you might think I was complaining. I try so hard not to complain that it would kill me to have someone think *or worse, "comment"* that I was complaining. But, slowly I have started sharing my many medical adventures, though I will admit that I don't share them all, and so far no one has said anything negative.
And, the pictures you're looking at are representative *to me* of the friendships that I have made with other like minded artists through my blogging.
I happened to receive all of these treasures from my good friend, Deb Christensen of Dye-ing to be Yours, and when she read that I was having pretty serious surgery last week, she put together a box of well wishes to make me smile! She is someone that I met through blogging and I simply adore her. See what I mean??

I had foot surgery last week and spent three delight (Vicadin) filled days in the hospital, coming home on Friday afternoon; and I understand the fun is just beginning.

Deb's gift represents all of the kind words, cards, phone calls (my precious friend, Julie of Kitchen Floor Creations actually called me from New York. Shut up!) and one of my closest friends, Anne of Fiona and Twig, has called several times and has posted updates on my condition on her own blog.

And the one thing that touches my heart more than anything else?
All of the prayers that have been lifted up on my behalf by many of you. (And don't stop praying, heck, don't stop sending presents, just because the surgery is over - there's lots more to this medical adventure.)

(If you don't know exactly what I'm referring to, scroll back a couple of posts and read IT SUCKS TO BE ME.)

All of you are so very precious to me. I hope I've been able to convey that; my words seem inadequate to me somehow.

Anyway, I love you and I cherish the friendships that I have made through blogging. (And lurkers, I love you, too.....pssst...Julie used to lurk...)

xoxo, Jan
.....love the Lord with all your heart.....

DO R.A.K.'s GET YOU A HEATED BATHROOM FLOOR IN YOUR ROOM IN HEAVEN???

.
.
R.A.K. = Random Acts of Kindness
.
Oh, I'm just joshin' y'all. I don't really wonder about the heated bathroom floor -
I'm pretty sure it's true.

I wanted to let you know about a couple of things - this info' is my R.A.K. ...

There's not a lot going on here at mom's, but there are a lot of things going on in the art blogging world! There is a website that I really haven't had time to do much more than enter the artist's giveaway and read her profile, but I wanted to tell you about it. You know why?
Why I would bother to tell you about this particular blog giveaway out of the hundreds that are going on right now? (ie., OWOH and other fabulous giveaways!)

Okay. Why? Because I really like her (this blogger). I'm going to go back tonight *after 24* and read her blog in hopes that I can get to know her better and maybe we'll become blog friends.
So, go to Treasures from the Heart and enter her blog giveaway! (It's a really good one)
And, while I've got your attention, I simply must tell you about this really cool shop, the Beautiful Life, I found on the web.
It's wonderful and there's no postage charges. woo. hoo.
And, real quickly, check out another new one I found, the Pink Funny Farm - remembering at both shops that my half-birthday is March 1st and I adore presents.
Adore them.
Presents.
I adore presents.
But, of course, you probably already knew that.

And, while I may adore presents, I don't adore them as much as I adore YOU!!

XOXO,

. . . .Jan

I NORMALLY WOULDN'T MENTION MY BIRTHDAY...

My birthday is this Monday.
Yes, I know, I know, they made it a holiday - but I won't talk about that lest I sound like a braggart.

I'll be 55.
Years.
Years old.
55 years old.
You still can't believe it, can you?
I KNOW!
Because I think I'm really 24.
Barbie and I have always been the same age and I'm totally sure that Barbie's 24 again this year.
Do the math.

The only reason I mention my birthday is because today, five days before the holiday, I received a package in the mail from one of the dearest women I have ever met.
And, that's about the extent of our relationship, but, in reality, it's more than that.

I met Sammy Stafney at the Art and Soul Retreat in Portland last fall.
I know we shared at least one meal together but the rest of that weekend is pretty much a blur.
And, I know that we have exchanged charms that we made for the retreat and we may have had a class together.
(Those of you that know me really well know that I can't remember anything.)

We've kept in touch through emails now and then and planned on seeing each other at this year's retreat in October.
Sammy found out that I had to back out of this year's retreat at the last minute and that I had a birthday coming up.
That dear, sweet woman sent me a box full of presents which I received today.

That's the reason for telling you that I have a birthday coming up - it is so that I can tell you how blessed I was today by an art friend - and isn't that the way it usually is?
That we, as friends joined through our art, bless each other???

I cried throughout the opening of each gift that she had filled the box with - mostly I think, because it was SO unexpected.

She got me!
She totally blessed me with her thoughtfulness and I wanted to share with you what a dear, sweet woman she is and to show you what she put together to bless me.

Below you will see pictures I took of all of the wonderful surprises that Sammy sent me.
Thank you, Sammy, for being such a darling friend and for making me feel so special.

Above is a precious necklace that she made for me!

Gorgeous silk material w/ black velvet roses!

Lots and lots of fibers!!

Fibers, ribbons and lots more!

And a sweet handmade card.

XOXO to Sammy and to all of my other precious art friends who bless me daily,
